David started Sploggy in May of 2009 while studying abroad in Santander, Spain, where he hoped he could — and successfully did, but not without a fair amount of hesitation and embarrassment — make use of one of his questionable majors before graduating. In beautiful Spain, David enjoyed carb-bombing his stomach multiple times a day and using this space to comment on it, as well as jet-setting to neighboring European countries on the weekends. It was an unforgettable experience, both emotionally and financially. Today, David misses Spain but lives on, working at The Texas Tribune, where he copyedits and does a little political writing and thus has little creative energy left to invest in Sploggy. He hopes to remedy this.
